Présentation de J. Pérard & Fils
![]() Julien Pérard | Our historyOur genealogical tree certifies that since 1647 the Perard's family has exercised the craft of farmer & wine grower. The home of our ancestors was in Cernay les Reims. This was Julien who moved to Ambonnay in 1928 to cultivate vineyards. Jean-Paul took his succession in 1972 and switched to Champagne selling. Nowadays and since 1996 Patrick has taken over. The future seems to be insured since Patrick has three sons.

| Medals, rewards and other honours Dear customer, our only true reward is this instant of pleasure which is brought to you while tasting our wine. What else should the farmer that we are try to seek? We are distinguishing ourselves every time when you are expressing your satisfaction. Our only advertisement is our Champagne that you are sharing during times of conviviality with your family or your friends. This is the reason why we are declining all numerous proposals: advertisements, shows and fairs, offered to us. Be reasonable and do not follow the guide, you are our reference !

![]() | Our growing methods Without falling into dogmatic ecology, we are using methods respectful of our environment, without sacrificing (on the contrary!) to quality. This is what one calls durable agriculture. The director of the European institute for ecology offers the following definition: "it is the idea that the present economic activities, which goals are to satisfy the needs of the people, should not hamper those of future generations. In order that those could access the same resources as we, we should not wear them out nor waste them. In short, the durable development is simultaneously concerned with environnement and social and economial development This approach implies a very important overload of work in comparison with "modern techniques » but we accept it. (see "our methods" for further information) |
![]() | Our village : AmbonnayAmbonnay is a small wine growing village of 380 hectares. Nowadays it numbers about 1000 inhabitants, while during the Middle-Ages it numbered about 3000 ambonnagéens (name of the inhabitants of Ambonnay) within its fortified walls. It is a very nice village and walking through it one can discover fountains, a calvary, a church built during the XIIth century and some very old porches. All street names are made of forged steel and our village is often reward for its flower decorations

![]() | The scale of the Champagne vintagesChampagne wines have a classification which is called « scale of the Champagne vintage wines". At the top of the scale one finds 17 villages which are classified "Grand Cru" (great wines), just below one finds 45 villages classified "Premier Cru" (first wines), the basis is made by 258 villages which are not classified. This classification reveals the quality of the grapes. If the Great Houses of Champagne are willing to pay more for the Pinot black and the Chardonay coming from villages classified "great wines", it is indeed because they acknowledge their quality and know that they will be able to make a high quality Champagne wine which will be sold at a higher price. This quality is the reflection of a well adapted and exposed soil. .

| Soms truths concerning wineWine should be drunk with moderation... but be careful, because not drinking wine may be risky ! Some indisputable studies are proving it, especially one made in Nancy in 1999. The table below taken from the magazine " the four truths concerning wine" is very interesting
« The Nancy study » generated numerous scientific publications, under the authority of Professor Serge Renaud medicine". Moreover they have been confirmed by the Copenhagen study, published in September 2000 in the "annals of internal medicine". Both these publications are considered as references in scientific circles It is true that mortality risks are increasing in parallel with the consumption of wine. But by looking more closely, we are obliged to admit that the risk of cancer is progressively diminishing, in comparison with the abstinent drinker, up to a consumption of 2 and a half glass of wine per day. One should also say that up to 4 glasses of wine per day (half a liter) the risk of cancer for men is effectively growing ... but it is still smaller than not drinking wine at all. One notices that the total risk concerning the whole possible mortality causes stays below the risk of the abstinent drinkers up to 6 and a half glass a day (3/4 l). Naturally it is advised to stick to 3 glasses a day for men and 2 glasses a day for women. What is important is to drink with moderation every day. Actually, wine procures polyphenols which have a beneficial anti-oxidizing effect. But this role in our body is quite short. Therefore it is necessary to renew this benefit on a regular basis if one wants to obtain this health benefit. On the other hand, if one should drive, it is preferable not to drink. Naturally, we are not drinking wine to prevent any disease, but for conviviality and cultural reasons. I should confess, as far as I know, there are no more polyphenols in green tea than in wine. Source: 4 truths on wine - 1st bulletin - June 2005. The results presented on this graphic were published in September 1999 in the "archives of internal. Is Champagne a good anti-depressive?It is rich in Lithium, a mood regulator.Champagne wine does not irritate the stomach, despite a very low pH. Its carbonic gas grade is only the produce of the second fermentation, very different from certain bubbly wine or soda with artificially added gas. It eases the digestion and expels the feeling of distension. It is also diuretic and helps to eliminate any excess, which is a welcome asset during end of year parties. Moreover, Champagne wine is particularly rich in minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium...). Each glass brings about 7mg of zinc, a trace element necessary for the regulation of the nervous influx. It seems that its supply in phosphorus and lithium is beneficial for the mood. It does not heal despair, but it warms the heart, that is for sure! Then you can drink without any scruple, but with moderation, because all the benefits of Champagne wine are verified when one sticks to 2 to 3 glasses a day. |
